
Maxwell Pearlย received hisย B.A. in Natural Science and Mathematics from Bennington College, and hisย Ph.D. in Biology with a specialty in Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University. Maxย taught Neuroscience and Public Health at Hampshire College from 1989 through 1999, as Assistant and Associate Professor of Biology.
Max was a nationally recognized leader in the nonprofit technology field, and was involved in nonprofit governance. Max worked with organizations focused on women’s rights, human rights, LGBTQIA+ issues, the environment, and internet freedom.
Max is a long-time practitioner and was a teacher of contemplative spirituality and embodiment, and has a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion, in Berkeley, and has practiced in the Theravada Buddhist tradition since 1991.
Max’s focus full-time now is writing. He is a multi-genre writerย and has written many articles and reports for scholarly journals and educational and nonprofit audiences. Max has also published poetry and creative nonfiction. Max has published 12 science fiction novels. He is currently in an MFA program for Creative Writing at Antioch University.
Max splits his time between Sonoma County, CA and Seattle, WA, and lives with his partner and their three wonderful critters.
